Does anybody remember the day that Topanga Canyon Blvd. was closed so that Rocketdyne could transport a rocket section from their building on Victory Blvd to the test site above Simi Valley? We were allowed out of classes to watch this HUGE booster section being towed north on Topanga. All the street lights had been removed as well as all overhead telephone and power lines. The trailer took up both north and southbound lanes! This booster was the 4th stage rocket for one of the Apollo missions. These rocket engines would shake the mountains and fill the sky with fire when they were test-fired above Simi.
