Kindergarten Students Visit CPHS Farm!
Over 150 kindergarteners from Canoga Park Elementary School visited the CPHS Farm on Thursday, March 23. The event was hosted by Ms Carrie Valente and 30 of her 9th grade Introduction to Agriculture students in the Veterinary and Environmental Science Magnet.
Ms Valente and the students planned a fun-filled Farm Day for their pint-sized visitors with activities and crafts, and opportunities to get up close and personal with many of the animals on our 1.5-acre outdoor learning laboratory. The children visited six stations around the farm. They planted seeds, made papier-mache flowers, petted a goat and a chicken, and got to meet the school’s horse, Penny.
At each station, VES magnet students led the kindergarteners in hands-on experiences to expand their knowledge of plants and animals and offer them a glimpse into the rural lifestyle. Ms Valente hopes to make the elementary school Farm Day an annual event and expand the participation to other local elementary schools.
